Obituary for Sandy M. Crawford (Ferguson)

Sandy M. Crawford (Ferguson)
Sandy M. Crawford, 75, of Everett, was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 21st, 2017.

She was born Wednesday, January 22nd, 1941 at Dr. N.A. Timmins Hospital in Bedford, the daughter of the late Lloyd Ferguson and Catherine (Wilfong) Ferguson.

On December 21st 1957 she married Thomas L. Savage who preceded her in passing away, and on June 21st, 1981, she married Ivan R. Crawford who passed away on April 18th, 2010.

She is survived by two sons,

Warren Savage and wife Cyd Savage of San Jose, California,
John Savage and partner Michele Miller of Everett,

Four grandchildren,
Jessica (Savage) Roberts and husband Jeff Roberts,
Kristin (Savage) McCarty and husband Michael McCarty,
Dylan Savage,
Joshua Savage and wife Michelle,

Two great-grandchildren, Liam Savage and Aiden Savage,

Four stepchildren,
Daniel Crawford and wife Tammy of Alum Bank,
Joseph Crawford and wife Kimberly of Alum Bank,
Jack Crawford of Manns Choice,
Kathy Henderson and husband Jeremy of Alum Bank,

Thirteen step grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and their families.

She was preceded in passing away by a grandchild and a stepson Rodney Crawford.

Sandra attended Bedford High School, Morgantown High School and also studied at Allegany College of Maryland, Bedford County Campus to extend her career as a mental health worker.

After her marriage in 1957, she and her husband Tom operated their family owned dairy farms in West Virginia and Ohio until 1980. Always an ideal farmwife, Sandy helped with the many chores around the farm as well as keeping a lovely home for her family.

After moving back to her hometown of Bedford in 1980, she met her future husband Ivan and the couple set up residence in Everett where they both lived out the remaining years of their lives.

It was during this time that Sandy helped establish the Bedford County Covered Bridge Society serving as one of the four founding members and past president for many years. With her help, the society became part of the Bedford County government, recovering, preserving and maintaining 14 bridges throughout the county, including her most cherished bridge, the Herline Covered Bridge.

A vivacious and outgoing person with many interests, Sandy had a number of hobbies, but none more beloved than her work with the covered bridge society. With a soft spot in her heart for animals of all kinds, Sandy always had a pet, usually a rescued animal that no one else would have. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Sandy will be remembered for showering her family with the love and attention that made them feel special and wanted.

A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, February 19th, 2017 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett, with Rev. Curtis Bryant officiating.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 11:00 am until the hour of service and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com.

Private burial will be held by her family at Bedford County Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Sandy to the Bedford County Historical Society, 6441 Lincoln Highway, Bedford, PA 15522 to support the Felton Covered Bridge project.
